Fredericksburg anchors one of the most visited wine regions in America. Cruise Highway 290 (Wine Road 290) between Fredericksburg and Johnson City and pick two or three tasting rooms per day — that's the perfect pace.

- Becker Vineyards — a Hill Country classic with lavender fields.
- Heath Sparkling Wines — for something bubbly and different.
Prefer not to drive? Book a local wine-tour shuttle — several pick up right in Fredericksburg.
Enchanted Rock State Natural Area
The iconic 425-foot pink granite dome, about 20 minutes north of town. Hike the 0.8-mile Summit Trail for 360-degree Hill Country views — go early or late in the day, and bring more water than you think you need.
Important: day passes ($8/adult, kids 12 and under free) must be reserved in advance — up to 30 days ahead — and weekends sell out 1–2 weeks out.
Historic Main Street
A 10-minute walk from our front door. More than 150 boutiques, galleries, and tasting rooms line the street, plus classic German restaurants — the town was founded by German settlers in 1846, and the heritage is everywhere, from the biergartens to the bakeries.
History & Museums
- National Museum of the Pacific War (311 E Austin St) — Admiral Nimitz's hometown museum; allow 3+ hours. Closed Tuesdays.
- Pioneer Museum (325 W Main St) — German settler history in historic buildings.
- LBJ Ranch & Texas White House (Stonewall, ~15 min east) — "All the way with LBJ" in the Pedernales Valley.
Outdoors & Family
- Old Tunnel State Park — watch millions of bats emerge at sunset, May through October.
- Wildseed Farms (7 miles east) — the nation's largest wildflower farm; free admission, best March–April.
- Das Peach Haus (Hwy 87 south) — peach preserves and tastings; peach season runs May–August.
Easy Day Trips
- Luckenbach, Texas (~15 min) — live country music and two-stepping under the oaks. "Everybody's somebody in Luckenbach."
- Johnson City & the Pedernales Valley — more wineries plus LBJ's boyhood home.
Seasonal Events
- Oktoberfest — first weekend of October at Marktplatz, minutes from Giving Tree.
- Christmas & the Night of Lights — all December, with the famous Christmas Pyramid.
- Wildflower season (March–April) and peach season (May–August).
